OPENING NIGHT OF THE FIRST ANNUAL SAN DIEGO TIJUANA INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL.
Join us as we celebrate our region's binational jazz history; from Jelly Roll Morton's 1920s roots in Tijuana to the origin of rock icon Carlos Santana, and so much more.
This year’s program channels a cultural legacy reaching back 100 years by bringing together international, national, and regional artists to perform at three unique venues.
FEATURING THESE ACCLAIMED ARTISTS:

Jungle Fire

The 8-piece LosAngeles/San Diego-based TropiFunk band pulls its influences from the music oflegends such as Irakere, Ray Barretto, James Brown, Fela Kuti and Manu Dibango (just to name a few) while creating a melting pot of Afro-Caribbean and WestAfrican rhythms with heavy breakbeat funk. Since its inception in 2011, JungleFire has played stages including New York City’s Lincoln Center Out of DoorsFestival, the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival, Havana Jazz Plaza, and multi-citytours of the UK and Spain.
